Spin-current-induced magnetization reversal in magnetic nanowires with constrictions

چکیده
We have performed experiments on current-induced domain-wall motion sCIDWMd in the case of the domain walls sDWd trapped within the nanoscale constrictions in patterned NiFe structures. Direct observation of current-induced magnetization reversal was achieved and critical current densities jc were measured in the presence of easy-axis magnetic fields. The direction of CIDWM was found to be along the direction of the electron motion in absence of an applied magnetic field and in the direction of the field when in the presence of even relatively weak fields. Data for the field dependence of jc for both uniform and fast rising pulses suggest that the current, regardless of polarity, assists in the depinning of the DW. Only for the dc case does the data strongly reveal the influence of the electron pressure in promoting or hindering DW motion. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. fDOI: 10.1063/1.1851434g

Investigations of Magnetic Properties Through Electrodeposition Current and Controlled Cu Content in Pulse Electrodeposited CoFeCu Nanowires
CoFeCu nanowires were deposited by pulsed electrodeposition technique into the porous alumina templates by a two-step mild anodization technique, using the single-bath method. The electrodeposition was performed in a constant electrolyte while Cu constant was controlled by electrodeposition current. The electrodeposition current was 3.5, 4.25, 5 and 6 mA. The effect of electrodeposition current...

متن کاملCurrent-induced magnetization reversal in terms of power dissipation
Magnetization excitation and reversal induced by spin-transfer torques is described in terms of power received or dissipated in a macrospin system. This approach provides a clear and intuitive understanding of the effect of both applied magnetic fields and injected spin-polarized currents on magnetization reversal. It is illustrated by solving the case of magnetization reversal in a nanopillar ...
متن کاملAngular and temperature dependence of current induced spin-orbit effective fields in Ta/CoFeB/MgO nanowires
Current induced spin-orbit effective magnetic fields in metal/ferromagnet/oxide trilayers provide a new way to manipulate the magnetization, which is an alternative to the conventional current induced spin transfer torque arising from noncollinear magnetization. Ta/CoFeB/MgO structures are expected to be useful for non-volatile memories and logic devices due to its perpendicular anisotropy and ...
متن کاملSpin-transfer-induced precessional magnetization reversal
A magnetoelectronic device is proposed in which a spin-current pulse produces a rapid reversal of the magnetization of a thin film nanomagnet. A spin-transfer torque induces the reversal and the switching speed is determined by the precession frequency of the magnetization in a thin film element’s demagnetization field. Micromagnetic simulations show that this switching occurs above a threshold...
